Flybe in Administration – Update 1

05/03/20 – 1300

With Flybe being placed into administration in the early hours of this morning, all Flybe operated flights have been grounded.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Flybe flights operated by Blue Islands are NOT AFFECTED. For flights with a four-digit flight number starting with BE6*** these flights will continue to operate with Blue Islands as usual.

Routes that ARE AFFECTED are:

Any flight number that starts with BE followed by any number that is not a four-digit flight number starting with 6 – these flights will no longer operate. This includes:

  • Flights between Guernsey and Birmingham, Exeter, Southend, Belfast City, Edinburgh and Glasgow
  • Flights between Jersey and Aberdeen, Belfast City, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Inverness and Manchester

Our entire team have been on the case since the news broke to re-protect all of our affected clients with priority being given to those currently overseas and those with imminent departures. Wherever possible we are arranging alternative travel arrangements to and from the Channel Islands by air and sea and have already been able to secure alternative carriage with other carriers on many bookings.

We are also working hard to reinstate all routes with other carriers. This will take a little time so please bear with us whilst we finalise these arrangements and re-protect holidays with as little inconvenience as possible to our valued clients.

Whilst we endeavour to speak to all clients affected as soon as possible, we are prioritising bookings in departure date order and will get to all affected bookings as soon as we can. During this time, our phone lines will be extremely busy so we thank you in advance for your patience if it takes longer than usual to get through. We appreciate your understanding in that we will be dealing with departures going in March first and, if you have a booking travelling later than this, that it may take a little longer for us to get to you. We promise we will be in contact with everyone in due course and as soon as possible.

For clients who are currently in the Channel Islands we are pleased to say that we have now made contact with everyone and all of these bookings are currently being dealt with.

For clients travelling in March please contact us on 0800 6409058

For clients travelling from April onwards we would appreciate you contacting us next week whilst we are dealing with March departures as priority.

For all new bookings we continue to offer fantastic holidays to the Channel Islands as normal. You can call our dedicated Channel Islands Team on 0800 6409058, email us on info@channelislandsdirect.co.uk and book online where possible.

When alternative travel arrangements are available to be made so clients can still enjoy their holiday, these will be automatically booked and confirmed. In some cases, an alternative airline may decide to fly on a route previously operated by Flybe. In this instance, wherever possible, we will transfer bookings to the new carrier and confirm the new flight details. We will be in touch to advise of these new details in due course as soon as we have secured them.

If a holiday is cut short due to alternative travel arrangement availability, regrettably as the circumstances surrounding the curtailment of the holiday are outside of our control, clients will not be eligible for compensation. Clients may however be able to make a claim for curtailment of the holiday from their travel insurers. We recommend contacting the insurers directly in this instance to check their policy rules.

If anyone wishes to cancel a holiday when an alternative is offered, if a suitable alternative to the original travel arrangements has been found then clients are not entitled to cancel without charge and our normal booking terms and conditions apply. If there is a significant change to alternative travel arrangements offered (like a different departure airport or a schedule change that is greater than 12 hours) then clients have the choice of either accepting the new itinerary or receiving a full refund of all monies paid.

Further updates will follow once more information becomes available
